SSH Remote Code Execution

Resumen

Este repositorio contiene un programa en C que acepta parámetros de entrada y genera un paquete para enviarlo a un servidor mediante el protocolo SSH. El programa asigna un búfer para almacenar los datos, los escribe en un archivo y construye una cadena de comandos para iniciar una conexión SSH a un host y puerto especificados utilizando la función system.

Problemas Identificados

Existen varios problemas de seguridad y estabilidad en la implementación actual:

  1. Desbordamiento de búfer: Solo se asignan 28 bytes con malloc, pero se escriben 29 bytes, lo que puede provocar corrupción de memoria o fallos de segmentación.
  2. Cálculo incorrecto de la dirección de retorno: La dirección de retorno se calcula utilizando la longitud del paquete en lugar del tamaño del búfer, lo que da como resultado un valor inválido.
  3. Problema de cadena de formato: La sentencia printf para la dirección de retorno contiene una cadena de formato incorrecta, lo que provoca un comportamiento indefinido.
  4. Operaciones de E/S no verificadas: Los valores de retorno de open y write no se verifican, lo que puede provocar pérdida de datos o escrituras incompletas.
  5. Fugas de memoria: La memoria asignada para los punteros buffer y ssh nunca se libera.
  6. Ejecución de comandos no segura: El uso de system para ejecutar el comando SSH permite que se ejecuten comandos arbitrarios con privilegios elevados, lo que supone un grave riesgo de seguridad.

Recomendaciones

Para mejorar la seguridad y fiabilidad del programa, se recomiendan los siguientes cambios:

  • Asignar al menos 29 bytes para el búfer para evitar el desbordamiento.
  • Utilizar el tamaño del búfer, no la longitud del paquete, al calcular la dirección de retorno.
  • Corregir la cadena de formato en la sentencia printf para la dirección de retorno.
  • Comprobar y gestionar los valores de retorno de las llamadas open y write.
  • Liberar toda la memoria asignada dinámicamente para los punteros buffer y ssh.
  • Sustituir system por una alternativa más segura como execvp para evitar ejecutar comandos arbitrarios.

La implementación de estas correcciones mejorará la estabilidad del programa y reducirá las posibles vulnerabilidades de seguridad.
