xmlrpc-common 构成了 xmlrpc-client 与 xmlrpc-server 之间共享的代码库。在 org.apache.xmlrpc.parser.XmlRpcResponseParser.addResult(Object) 方法中发现了反序列化漏洞。该漏洞使攻击者控制的 xmlrpc 服务器能够发送恶意的 xmlrpc 响应,从而在 xmlrpc 客户端中触发远程代码执行。
反序列化由 xmlrpc fault 的使用触发,fault 中可能包含 faultCause。该节点的内容被当作字节数组处理,随后使用 readObject() 反序列化为 Java 对象:

该漏洞不同于 CVE-2016-5003,后者利用 ex:serialized 类型触发反序列化。这个新漏洞即使在其默认配置(禁用扩展)下也会影响 xmlrpc-common。
虽然漏洞位于 xmlrpc-common 中,但要实现远程代码执行,需要借助 gadgets 链。gadgets 链取决于类路径中可用的类。出于演示目的,我们的概念验证在类路径中添加了 Apache commons-collections-3.2.1,并使用 ysoserial 生成了 gadgets 链。

我们的概念验证使用了一个特意编写的 xmlrpc 测试客户端和一个攻击者控制的 xmlrpc 服务器。
该服务器的主要目的是将序列化 payload 传递给存在漏洞的客户端。序列化 payload 是使用以下命令创建的:
