Proof-of-concept per CVE-2025-48593 basato sull'esame della patch.
Non dovresti preoccupartene. Per quanto ne so, i telefoni NON sono vulnerabili a CVE-2025-48593. Il problema riguarda solo i dispositivi Android che supportano la funzione di cuffie/altoparlanti Bluetooth, come alcuni smartwatch, smart glasses e auto. Inoltre, un attaccante deve convincere la vittima ad abbinarsi all'attaccante prima di poter accedere al servizio headset. Finché non accetti la richiesta di abbinamento su smartwatch/occhiali/auto, dovresti essere al sicuro.
Questa proof-of-concept non è utile a nulla: fa solo crashare l'emulatore Android Automotive con un fault addr 0x4141414141414141.

## La mia comprensione di ciò che sta accadendo
Le cuffie Bluetooth utilizzano il [profilo Handsfree](https://github.com/zhuowei/blueshrimp/blob/main/%3Chttps%3A/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles#Hands-Free_Profile_(HFP)>).
Il profilo Handsfree è particolare: a differenza della maggior parte dei servizi Bluetooth, in cui un lato agisce da client e l'altro da server, sia la cuffia sia il dispositivo che si connette (ad es. un telefono) devono eseguire un server Bluetooth.
Dopo che il telefono si connette al servizio Handsfree della cuffia (0x111e), la cuffia si riconnette al servizio Handsfree Audio Gateway del telefono (0x111f).
Quando un telefono apre una connessione RFCOMM al servizio Handsfree della cuffia, nel codice hf_client della cuffia:

- quindi ora la `tSDP_DISCOVERY_DB` è deallocata, `client_cb->p_disc_db` è null, e il layer SDP non ha più un `p_ccb->p_db` verso il DB di discovery.
Tuttavia, se il telefono apre di nuovo RFCOMM prima che la prima discovery SDP risponda:
- riallochiamo un handle (probabilmente lo stesso handle che era stato deallocato al pool in precedenza) e chiamiamo di nuovo la discovery.
- ora `client_cb->p_disc_db` punta a una nuova `tSDP_DISCOVERY_DB`, e il layer SDP contiene due `tSDP_DISCOVERY_DB`: un `p_ccb->p_db` contiene il vecchio DB della prima connessione e un `p_ccb->p_db` contiene il nuovo DB della seconda connessione
Ora, il telefono risponde alla prima discovery SDP con un errore:
- il layer SDP chiude il `p_ccb` della prima connessione
- [bta_hf_client_free_db](https://cs.android.com/android/platform/superproject/+/android-latest-release:packages/modules/Bluetooth/system/bta/hf_client/bta_hf_client_sdp.cc;l=413;drc=769caf391c6055c6f9db945b71d96b2f01c8799c) dealloca `client_cb->p_disc_db`, che è il DB della _seconda_ connessione
- ora il `client_cb->p_disc_db` di hf_client è deallocato e impostato a null, e il `p_ccb` SDP della prima connessione è sparito
- ma il `p_ccb` della seconda connessione è ancora attivo, quindi `p_ccb->p_db` per la seconda richiesta di discovery SDP punta a una `tSDP_DISCOVERY_DB` deallocata
Infine, il telefono risponde alla seconda discovery SDP con una risposta reale:
- il layer SDP elabora i dati in arrivo in [sdp_data_ind](https://cs.android.com/android/platform/superproject/+/android-latest-release:packages/modules/Bluetooth/system/stack/sdp/sdp_main.cc;l=234;drc=0e45ce1dc53e611da84344e7c5a11108ad7dba46) e li smista a sdp_disc_server_rsp
- [process_service_search_attr_rsp](https://cs.android.com/android/platform/superproject/+/android-latest-release:packages/modules/Bluetooth/system/stack/sdp/sdp_discovery.cc;l=683;drc=769caf391c6055c6f9db945b71d96b2f01c8799c) inizia a leggere da `p_ccb->p_db`
- poiché `bta_hf_client_free_db` aveva già deallocato `p_db` in seguito alla risposta di errore della prima discovery SDP, la seconda risposta SDP causa un use-after-free.
Quello che non capisco:
- Bionic supporta [malloc_debug](https://android.googlesource.com/platform/bionic/+/master/libc/malloc_debug/README.md): impostando `"LIBC_DEBUG_MALLOC_OPTIONS=fill\ verbose"` la memoria viene riempita con `0xef` al momento della deallocazione. Perché non vedo `0xef` nel log del crash?
## Esecuzione
Crea un emulatore Android Studio con Android Automotive 14, API 34-ext9, "Android Automotive with Google APIs arm64-v8a System Image", versione 5 - questo ha Headset Client abilitato di serie.
In alternativa, per far sì che l'emulatore Android non Automotive emuli una cuffia Bluetooth:

Sto usando un TP-Link UB400 v2.6 (RTL8761BU) con Bumble su macOS.
Inizialmente ho provato l'adattatore ASUS USB-BT500 v2 (RTL8761CU) e ho scoperto che non funziona con Bumble su macOS. Quando Bumble tenta di stabilire una connessione L2CAP, il dispositivo di destinazione riceve il pacchetto di richiesta di connessione e invia una risposta, ma il USB-BT500 v2 non riceve affatto la risposta e la connessione fallisce.
(L'ASUS USB-BT500 v2 funziona correttamente su Linux con Bumble.)
