AirWatch is a simple menu bar app which helps prevent device snatching attacks. As an example, such an attack was carried out against Ross Ulbricht. An agent grabbed his device and ran, thus preventing him from rebooting it.
AirWatch monitors the current SSID. If it changes or goes out of range the Mac will be rebooted.
AirWatch doesn't protect you against the person watching over your shoulder. If they know you are using AirWatch, they are likely to change their tactics. An attacker who knows you are using AirWatch could disable or kill the app after they snatch the device. This is likely to take a few seconds though. You could also write a script which reboots the device if the AirWatch app dies for any reason.
Consider AirWatch to be a single tool among your entire arsenal. You shouldn't depend on it alone, and you should always consider how you can use it in conjuction with other tools to make your security multi-layered.
