CIFSwitch Checker - CVE-2026-46243

Checker for Linux to identify configurations potentially vulnerable to the CIFSwitch vulnerability (CVE-2026-46243). It does not exploit the vulnerability or modify the system. The main goal is to help identify potentially affected systems and validate mitigations.

The tool performs passive checks on:

  • cifs-utils
  • cifs.upcall
  • request-key
  • CIFS/SMB
  • User Namespaces
  • Common mitigations

Installation and usage

Clone the repository:

  • git clone https://github.com/MrForkBomb/CIFSwitch-Checker-CVE-2026-46243.git
  • cd CIFSwitch-Checker-CVE-2026-46243
  • chmod +x CIFSwitch_Checker.sh
  • ./CIFSwitch_Checker.sh or bash CIFSwitch_Checker.sh

This script was created with the goal of providing a simple and fast way to assess the exposure of Linux systems to recent kernel vulnerabilities without needing to run exploits or potentially suspicious code.

The priority is to offer safe, reproducible, and understandable analysis in an easy way for system administrators and cybersecurity professionals.
